Come to JCC as an international student
Jamestown Community College welcomes students from throughout the world. When you study at JCC, you earn a nationally recognized education through JCC’s membership in the State University of New York, the largest system of public higher education in the United States.
International student application details
As an international student, you will work with our Global Learning team for admission to the college and to receive the form I-20, your Certificate of Visa Eligibility.
Submit all required documents at one time, rather than sending documents individually. Sending multiple emails with separate documents may cause delays for your application review.
Name all documents clearly. Documents not labeled with the correct document name or type will cause delays in your application review.
Admissions & I-20 application requirements:
- Completed application
- Valid passport
- Proof of successful completion of secondary school equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma
- Proof of financial resources to cover at least one academic year of study at JCC
- Proof of English language proficiency
Admissions process
Read through the admission steps carefully and submit the outlined documents to avoid delays in processing your application. Submit all documents to International@mail.uupt.net.
Once admitted, you will receive an email to access your acceptance letter in your application portal account.
Form I-20 process
You must submit the following documents to be reviewed by the Global Learning team to issue you the form I-20, Certificate of Visa Eligibility. If you meet the standards for covering your educational costs and meeting English proficiency standards, Global Learning will issue you the form I-20. Submit all documents to International@mail.uupt.net.
Once you satisfactorily meet the requirements to receive your form I-20, Certificate of Visa Eligibility, you will receive a PDF copy of the form signed by the designated school official to the email address you provided on your application.
Application processing timeframe & deadline
Review of your application and supporting documents take time to ensure accuracy of documents. Review of your file will not begin until all required documents are submitted. After submission, acceptance and I-20s are typically issued within 10 business days.

*Review of applications may start prior to these timeframes, but priority reviews are given to applicants of the upcoming start term. This could result in delays for future terms, especially when Global Learning is experiencing high volume.
Application deferrals
You may request to defer your start term. After two deferral requests, if you are unable to secure your F-1 student visa, JCC will no longer consider you for a future term for admission. If you defer a term, please refer to the processing timeframe and deadline by your new start term.
